Background

ARC NÒRD MEDITERRANEA

The project Arc Nòrd Méditerranèa aims to promote musical creation with traditional instruments: bodegas-autbòis (bagpipes from the Montagne Noire, oboe from Bas-Languedoc) for Occitanie with the association Mar e Montanha; bosses de gemecs-tarota for Catalonia with the association Va de Vent; xeremies-flabiol (Majorca, Balearic Islands) with the association Xeremiers de Sóller; zampogna-totarella (Calabria), with the association Totarella Zampogne dal Pollino. These exceptional and unique meetings of traditional instruments combined musical and linguistic aspects around six Romance languages: Occitan, Catalan, Calabrese, French, Spanish and Italian.

The project received a subsidy from the Euroregion of €25,409 for a period of 24 months.

Sabor de rumba: un patrimoni transfronterer

The “Sabor de rumba: un patrimoni transfronterer” project aimed to modify the negative connotations of Catalan rumba. This requires promoting this musical style concerning the whole population of the Euroregion Pyrenees Mediterranean. To do so, the project sought to establish and manage a crossborder network of partners but also to develop training and dissemination actions and the production of knowledge in favour of rumba throughout the Euroregional territory. The project brought together the following associations: KaRu Prod, Escola de Música Moderna de GironaFoment de Rumba Catalana and Manangelment Musical.

It received a Euroregional subsidy of €27,500 for a period of 12 months.

Pirineus-Mediterrània Modern

The “Pirineus-Mediterrània Modern” project reflected the will to go beyond the borders of contemporary music and new creations. It brought together the association Música Actual de Catalunya, the festival Turbulences Sonores de Montpellier and the cultural association Placa Base from Majorca. This consortium aimed to promote mobility and dynamic exchanges between the musical actors involved in the project. The project included lectures and concerts around three events held in Barcelona, Montpellier and Majorca between March and December 2018.

The project received a Euroregional subsidy of €24,120 for a period of 12 months.
